Is a Tea Company an Environmental Company?
Fact: As a tea company, we are also a business environment. After all, our business depends largely on 100% of the capacity of the land to provide season after season, the abundant harvests of Camellia sinensis (tea!). Soil fertility, clean rain, cold, damp fog and hot sun all have to contribute so we can have tea here in San Francisco. It's easy to assume the tea. It seems I just wrote a check for our suppliers, and a week later, UPS offers, as if by magic! But in reality, there are so many little details that have conspired to tea tree to sprout in a 1300 years old in the forests of southwestern China, and then appear in a cup in the urban area of San Francisco. The fact that all components, from where and how it is grown is for people who harvest, toast, packaging and shipping, the companies that provide reliable for us week after week. . . . all is well, and we have tea. It's magic. There is always, always, always room for improvement. But we do our best, and had many accomplishments during the trip. We love to hear from you if you have any suggestions on areas for improvement. Here are a few acres, we have successfully applied our philosophy as a company - for our customers, employees and business partners. 1. Build-out: Yerba Buena Gardens for our new location in downtown SF, we wanted to create a space-based, sustainable, renewable and that fit our style and design aesthetic. Bamboo is the ideal material because it is growing at a rate of 6 + inches per day throughout Asia. It is our main area of tables, counters, etc. For our "wall of tea", we chose years of recycled wood, which not only creates a sense of age, but is old! We love the area as a whole, because it's natural temperature control and large windows offering Cross project when it is warm and full of solar heating in cold and windy. 2. Product Offerings: All our products (food, tea, tea service and retail products) were selected on the basis of environmental and economic sustainability, support and supply of local businesses, organizational and business relationships. Please read this blog to learn more about our philosophy. Our specialty tea is an exclusive made by our friend and neighbor of Drew Dewitt. Cups and cups of chai are designed specifically for organic tea. They keep their beer warm, cool hands and are very, very sexy. Elegant and natural look great in our shop, but also at home. They will be sold this holiday season, so stay tuned. 3. Recycling We opened our original location on the 498th Sanchez. in the neighborhood of the Mission de Castro, nearly four years - and when we opened we had a garbage collection per week of 6 containers. Now we are two containers, compost bins and 2, and two recycling containers. Our goal is to be 100% n waste and are working to educate our staff to make this a reality. In terms of utensils when we opened in 2002, we believe that all our paper products have been the environment. Recently, we discovered that most of the paper cups and containers have a tight barrier within them is actually a laminate of oil will be around for hundreds of years! Now we have to change the course of the paper products and utensils in fact rapid composting of materials such as sugar cane fiber, corn and unbleached recycled paper. 4. Local, in fact, actually local goods: We take a partnership with local bakers, artists and producers to provide our customers with products that have minimal environmental impact on the achievement of the farmers in their case. We're even working on our herb garden in downtown SF - Yerba Buena Gardens in. Also, the gardens will soon offer through our tea leaves used to be integrated as mulch in your garden. 5. Dinner Tea We receive events to educate and entertain our customers about our products, businesses and the environment. Please see the press release of our Gala October 18 fair trade tea and discussion table. (Http: / / www. Samovartea. Com / html / lounge / media room. CFM) 6. We take care of our employees: Our employees are the first line to our clients, so if you are happy, for our customers. We offer health insurance and preventive care with local businesses. To stay healthy, our employees free yoga classes around town with teachers who join our tea ambassador of the network, and are treated by our neighbors acupuncture clinic. Soon we will even offer employee stock so that everyone working in the Samovar is an owner. Many of you noticed how our employees come and go and come and go for months at a time. We recognize that every person has unique needs and we offer a place to fulfill those needs. Whether for school, travel, other work, or fun, most of our employees have taken sabbaticals for up to three months - from peace efforts in the Middle East, culture rice in Minnesota, tour Asian tea. The opportunity is limitless for our employees. Ask Erick, who joined us four years ago as a dishwasher in Saint-Sanchez is responsible now runs the show for the whole site! 7. Community involvement: We do our business in the community, why not participate? We supply many local companies with the tea, gifts and sometimes not. If you know a nonprofit organization on the need for fair trade tea, let us know and we will be happy to help. Arts, education, environmental groups, artists. . . We love the connection and support of these organizations, because the tea is in the community and health, and to succeed as a company, we have in our community to connect and work together.
